Oracle Fusion Cloud Quarterly Updates & Release Management

Oracle Fusion Cloud follows a quarterly update schedule — four times a year, every year. Test environments are updated first; production environments follow two weeks later. That two-week window is your opportunity to validate, test, make opt-in decisions, and communicate changes to the business. Most organisations underinvest in this process and spend the two weeks reacting rather than controlling. eAppSys provides structured quarterly update management that turns each Oracle release into a predictable, low-risk business event.

“The Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite follows a quarterly update schedule to give customers rapid access to innovation, reduce downtime, and facilitate planning… Test environments are updated on the first Friday of the update month. Production environments are updated two weeks later, on the third Friday of the update month… Cohort A: February, May, August, November; Cohort B: March, June, September, December; Cohort C: April, July, October, January.”

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most before this type of engagement starts.

How does Oracle’s quarterly update schedule work?
Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications are updated four times per year on a cohort-based schedule. Releases are named by calendar year and quarter: 26A (first quarter 2026), 26B (second), 26C (third), 26D (fourth). Test environments are updated on the first Friday of the update month; production environments are updated two weeks later on the third Friday. Cohort A customers are updated in February/May/August/November; Cohort B in March/June/September/December; Cohort C in April/July/October/January. You can choose your cohort. The two-week gap between test and production gives you the validation window to test and communicate before production is updated.
Oracle’s quarterly updates contain three types of changes: 1) Bug fixes and performance improvements — mandatory, applied automatically, no opt-in required; 2) New features that are opt-in — available but not enabled by default, requiring a deliberate decision to activate; 3) New features that are opt-out — enabled by default but can be disabled. eAppSys’s quarterly update management process reviews all three types for each in-scope Fusion pillar and presents a clear assessment of impact and opt-in recommendations to business stakeholders.
Oracle updates occasionally change behaviour in ways that affect existing configurations, integrations, or reports. eAppSys’s regression testing in the two-week test window is specifically designed to catch these issues before production is updated. If an issue is discovered post-production, OracleCloudCare provides rapid incident response — triage, Oracle SR logging if required, and configuration or integration fix. Using ConfigIQ™, we can immediately compare the pre and post-update configuration state to isolate what Oracle changed.
ConfigIQ™ captures a snapshot of your Oracle Fusion configuration before each quarterly update. After the update is applied to the test environment, ConfigIQ™ generates a comparison report showing any configuration changes introduced by Oracle’s update — so your team doesn’t have to manually search for what changed. For the production update, ConfigIQ™ provides the same before/after comparison. eAppSys’s blog on quarterly updates notes: ‘ConfigIQ automates pre-update backups, runs post-update comparisons, and handles re-imports of adjusted configuration data. What teams previously spent days validating manually now runs in a fraction of that time.’
Yes — and this is where the real value of Oracle’s quarterly update model lies. Each update delivers new features, AI capabilities, and UX improvements. eAppSys’s quarterly update management includes a structured What’s New review that identifies features relevant to your business, presents them in business terms (not Oracle jargon), and recommends which to activate and when. As Oracle describes it: ‘Some Fusion Apps customers use our apps as a source of innovation and competitive advantage. Often, the difference between the two groups is a matter of their success adopting new functionality.’
